Many teachers, parents and adults in general look the other way where upbinging and
education are concerned. That begins with the dropping of simplest forms of courtesy and
ends in vandalism, drug addiction and serious criminality.
We don't want our school to breed indifference
or encourage young people to look the other way.
We know that everyone has within them the germ of
goodness. But this seed must be nurtured carefully, if it is to cast roots, flourish and
bear fruit.
Our educational work is firmly rooted in
Protestant Christian faith; yet, whilst it grows out of a particular belief, it is not
restricted to a single religion or denomination.
It is perfectly natural that Protestant
and Catholic young people are educated together with young Muslims at the EGG. It is
equally natural that a chapel is located at the heart of the school building. Here, we
learn to pray, both together and individually - whether Protestant, Catholic or Muslim.
Every child receives religious education in the
denomination desired by themselves or their parents. Instruction is provided by a teacher
who is not merely well informed about a particular religion, but who actively lives by it.
For multicultural and multi-denominational
education to be truly effective, it must first provide each student with a thorough
grounding in the convictions and tradiitons of their own faith and culture.
... In the end, every young
person has to find their own way.
